The Strike Rate Framework for Scalable Performance Creative

If you’re running direct response ads, you know the grind: constant creative production, nonstop creative testing, and a new “big idea” every week.

Your team is cranking out fresh performance creative nonstop. New angles. New scripts. New shoots.

And yet, most new ads flop within a week, burning time, budget, and bandwidth across your paid advertising accounts.

But what if there was a way to escape this cycle and make your creative output sharper, not just busier?

The Endless Creative Production Cycle

Platforms like Meta, Google, and TikTok reward novelty, giving fresh ads a temporary algorithmic boost.

Then, when ROAS and CTR inevitably dip, panic sets in.

Instead of diagnosing the cause, most advertisers default to “We need new ads, fast!” New ads are launched, performance boosts, and the cycle continues.

This reactive pattern prioritizes creative output over insight, leaving brands stuck in production mode with ads that may not even perform.

But scaling isn’t about making more ads, it’s about getting more from the ones you already have. So we ditched this method for a more strategic performance creative system.

Stop Chasing New Ads: A Smarter Way to Scale Paid Media

Most DTC advertisers celebrate ads that perform early, but our strike rate framework forces a higher bar.

It tells you how efficiently your team converts creative production into performance, separating the short-term wins from long-term scalable assets.

Our Strike Rate Framework:

Strike Rate measures how efficiently your creative system produces scalable winners, creating a clear, quantifiable standard for success.

While others might call a direct response ad a “winner” after a few strong days or an early ROAS spike, our definition requires consistent, profitable performance over time.

Here’s how:

Strike Rate = (Number of Strikes ÷ Total Ads Launched) × 100

An ad creative qualifies as a strike when it hits the following benchmarks:

1️⃣ It has spent $5,000+ within its first 28 days of launch.

2️⃣ It’s achieved or exceeded target ROAS

If your strike rate is rising, your system is getting sharper. If it’s falling, you’re wasting effort on volume without growth.

Not every ad can be a strike on the first try, but that doesn’t mean they can’t scale.

Our 10% Rule to Scale:

Ads that don’t meet strike status aren’t immediately discarded. That’s where our iteration strategy comes in.

We categorize them into three categories to decide next steps:

🟡 Near-Strike (within 10% of target KPI):

These are our top priorities for iteration. These strong concepts typically just need refined hooks, edits, or positioning to cross the finish line.

🌑 Shadow Strike (didn’t hit initial KPIs but eventually hit through iteration):

This concept proves the importance of iteration over volume. With our EDGE system, our team can isolate specific creative elements to uncover what’s working and what’s not.

With the right adjustments in copy, pacing, or positioning, these “underperformers” evolve into profitable campaigns that hit target ROAS and extend creative longevity.

🔴 Flop (missed target KPI by more than 10% after sufficient spend):
You can’t win ’em all. Instead of forcing this concept, we retire it, extract learnings, and redirect creative energy to higher-potential ideas.

If you’re tired of guessing which ads to scale, we’ve got you covered.

Our Strike Rate Tracker will show you how to escape this endless production cycle and get more from your existing assets by identifying, refining, and scaling the creative that actually performs.
